There are often some purchases. When purchasing microphones (microphones), I can’t understand the "sensitivity". Now, a simple analysis is as follows:

Sensitivity refers to the size of the electrical signal output by the microphone under the action of a certain intensity of sound. High sensitivity means that the microphone’s sound-to-electrical conversion efficiency is high, and it is sensitive to weak sound signals. Technically, it is often used in the 0.1pa [μBar (microbar)] sound pressure to indicate how high the voltage the microphone can output to indicate the sensitivity. If the sensitivity of a microphone is 1mV/μBar, it means that the signal voltage output by the microphone is 1mV under the action of 1μBar sound pressure.

It is customary to use DB to indicate the sensitivity of the microphone.

General sensitivity is -48~-66DB (domestic standard); the national standard -34DB is equivalent to the domestic standard -54DB.

That is generally: -28~-48DB

The definition of microphone sensitivity is the voltage (dBV) at the microphone output when a sound pressure of 1pa (94dB) is fed.

So the sensitivity of a -30dBV/Pa microphone is much higher than that of a -42dBV/Pa microphone.

MIC sensitivity refers to the complex ratio of the output voltage to the sound pressure received by the microphone. Under normal circumstances, it is defined that the sensitivity of the microphone when the output voltage of the output terminal is 1V when the sound pressure of 1 Pa is 0dB.

The sensitivity of the microphone is a relative value based on this standard: Lm=20lgVm/Vs, Vs=1v, Vm is the output voltage of the microphone at 1 Pa.

In addition, the dB of microphone sensitivity usually refers to dB/V. In addition, there is a unit also referred to as dB, namely dB/bar. The relationship between the two is -30dB/bar=-50dB /V,

Under normal circumstances, the sensitivity of the microphone used on the headset should not be too high, generally below -50dB/V, so a possible situation is that the motherboard MIC is -42dB/V, and the MIC on the headset is -30dB/ bar,

MIC sensitivity is a fixed index, which is measured under standard bias. Manufacturers can change the process or materials to improve. The user cannot reduce it during use. If the user bias is not correct, distortion and bandwidth squeezing will occur, which manifests as a decrease in sensitivity.
